Melbourne Shuffle

SHUFFLE COMPETITION @ Hard Kandy, Melbourne

Hard Kandy in conjunction with one of the largest rave crews in Kuala Lumpur (KL), are giving 6 lucky shufflers the chance to shuffle in KL through an all expenses paid trip. This came about because the crew in KL have heard so much about the “Melbourne Shuffle” and would like 6 of our dancers to perform as part of their stage production at one of thier events.

The prize: A return airfare to KL, 2 nights accommodation plus $250 spending money. Winners will also have the opportunity to appear in the Hard Kandy DVD later this year.

The travel dates:You will fly out on the 30th July (Friday) and return to Melbourne on the 1st August (Sunday). You must be available for these 3 full days.

The conditions: To enter, the following Terms and Conditions apply:
1) Dancers must be over 18 years of age.
2) Dancers must have a valid passport and be eligible and willing to travel (eligability will be checked through an interview process)
3) Dancers must not have any prior criminal convictions in order to be eligable to travel
4) Dancers must be available on 31st Jul to 1st August
5) Dancers must be physically capable to perform for multiple 30min sets over a 6 hour period.
6) Dancers will be representing HARD KANDY. Their conduct must be professional at all times.
7) Illicit substances are not tolerated in KL. HARD KANDY will not take any responsibility for any persons found or associated with drugs during the competition.
8) HARD KANDY reserves the right to cancel the competition without notice.
9) HARD KANDY reserves the right to reverse the final decision at any time.

The process: We have already been collecting names over the past few weeks of different shufflers. These people, as well as anyone who comes down to the re-opening on the 11th June and shuffles, will have the opportunity to be selected into the final 20.

The final 20 will be selected on the 11th June at the re-opening of Kandy. After we have selected these final 20 shufflers, we will be recording each person individually outside of the club. The judges will then sit down and watch the footage of each shuffler before selecting the final 6.

Those final 6 will need to go through an interview process with myself so that we can double check their eligability of travel. This will include checking passports and various other aspects which are neccessary to be able to gain a work permit in KL for this competition.

The remaining 14 shufflers will be held as “reserves”, pending the outcome that one of the final 6 is not eligable to travel.

Frank’s birthday
Frank’s birthday was great. Frederick and HC bought him 2 tall glasses of Graveyard (power shit). He finished it in no time. Initially he was fine, talking normally. Then few minutes later, he spoke loudly and made some funny comments. No doubt he was fucked!! No one can withhold the power of Graveyard!!

Unfortunately, we had no eggs throwing ceremony this year. Initially we wanted to hire an escort girl for him. Too bad it didn’t work out. Imagine we got him a super duper voluptuous lady to spend the night with him..Ahh..and the next best thing would be…finding out that the voluptuous girl he slept with was a transsexual.

Anyway, more mails enquiring about Melbourne Shuffle!

This one is really interesting

Dude,

*you don’t know me but please read before you delete*

I often go to big houseparties in Holland and Germany for quite a couple of
years now.

In Germany I found that people were dancing very differently from what we are
used to in Holland.

So I started looking on forums to find anything about this new way of dancing. (
this was about a year ago )

Eventually, I ended up at inthemix.com and ofcourse your site. I was amazed by
the fact that this dance originated from Melbourne, since I first saw it in
Germany. ( is this true, or is it just Melbourne that claimes the dance, no
offence! )

Anyway I really enjoyed watching the video’s and I actually start to get the
shuffle going.

The reason why I am mailing you right now is because I read your page gets quite
some hits.

I found two German websites on the melbourne shuffle ( although it is never
mentioned by that name ). Here are the links:

http://www.hardstep.de/
http://www.techno-schritte.de.vu/

The first one requires you the create an account in order to download the
video’s. But there are quite a lot of them and people continue to upoad stuff.
They film thereselfs in their rooms, at clubs, housparties, shoppingmalls,
train… you name it. Some are good, others are really bad. You won’t believe it
but even your video is on their website 🙂 your famous man!

I thought you might wanted to put these links on your website so that more
people can find out about the Melbourne shuffle.

I would really appreciate it if you would email me if you find anything new on
the shuffle.

Let’s get the whole world shuffling!

Regards,

Kris from The Netherlands

Melbourne Shuffle Documentary

NOTE: THE REFERRED DOCUMENTARY HAS NO RELATION TO MELBOURNE SHUFFLER DOCUMENTARY DVD.
Melbourne Shuffle Documentary, new from inthemix.au

Get it @ http://www.inthemix.com.au/tv/clips/20040130_shuffle/index.php

Personally, i think this video is not up to the standard. It doesn’t contain many visuals on shuffling. It is more of a documentary of Melbourne’s rave scene. However, I highly appreciate the author of this video for her hard work and commitment to popularize Melbourne Shuffle. Unfortunately, the contents of video are not up to standard.

I have the video file with me but I will not upload it on my server (it’s 18mb in size unless trance-tech wants to host it 😀 ). If you want it, message me..
