Pasar Laut Dalam

There’s a popular night market called Pasar Laut Dalam (if im not mistaken) held in Uptown DJ every Saturday night.

Majority of the crowd consist of Malays. It was a culture shock for me as I seldom go to Malay night markets. The place has loads of counterfeit goods such as from bags, clothes and even football boots.
There’s a shop selling 2nd hand shoes every few metres. You’ll know it before you see one as the smell of the shoes are overwhelming. The accumulated smell of sweat from hundreds of feet makes the smell pungent.

The origins of the shoes are debatable. Some say that most of the shoes are stolen shoes.

I heard about this saying that if you find your shoes missing in the morning, just head down to DJ Uptown market on Saturday night to buy your shoes back.

I was a little bit scared after taking this photo. The owner of the shop looked like he’s going to bash me up.
Oh, guess what else I saw?

Salesgirl’s ‘loss’ is breast cancer group’s gain

Someone just broke Big Ben’s record.
BY CECIL FUNG

KUALA LUMPUR: Alice Wong Pei Fan was propelled to fame when she stunned a snatch thief by using her big size and weight to nab him last year.
Wong, dubbed Big Sister, made another stunning move when she emerged 26.3kg lighter yesterday.
In losing the weight, she had also enriched the Breast Cancer Welfare Association by RM26,300.
The weight that the 22-year-old salesgirl had used to pin the snatch thief to the ground while waiting for help has been lost for a good cause.
For every kilo that she lost through Body Perfect Sdn Bhd’s intensive three-month weight-loss programme, RM1,000 was donated to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association by the slimming centre.
But despite her smaller size, snatch thieves better stay beware.
“If it ever happens again, I will still go after the thief. It’s the only right thing to do,” she said in Cantonese at a press conference held by Body Perfect to “unveil” her new figure at the Crown Princess Hotel.
A measurement of Wong revealed that she only weighed 79.2kg.
She also took 28.25cm off her waistline, which now measures 87.5cm.
In July last year, Wong became an instant national celebrity when The Star and other newspapers reported on her courageous act in Seremban when a man snatched a cellphone from the shop where she was working while she was attending to another customer.
Despite her hefty size (she weighed about 105kg then), Wong gave chase and caught up with the man at the traffic lights about 20m from the shop.
She jumped on the man and pinned him to the ground by sitting on his back.
For Wong, the weight loss was not just a physical change.
“Before this, I used to feel aimless and sometimes even depressed because of my weight. Now, I feel more confident in myself and I’m starting to have bigger goals in life.
“I want to be involved in programmes where I can contribute to society in whatever way I can,” she said.
Asked if she was satisfied with her new figure, Wong replied: “I’m very satisfied with the results because it is such a huge change over just three months.
“However, it would be even better if I can lose more weight. I hope to reduce it to 70kg at the very least,” she said, thanking her family and friends as well as Body Perfect for their support.

she’s a h0t chick now!

1U Pre CNY

Sam and I had lunch at 1U. Don joined us for a while. Since Chinese New Year is around the corner, festive decorations are up on every shopping mall. 1 Utama built a huge replica of a castle and had performances on it.

Before Chinese New Year, Chinese would shop for new clothes to mark the new year. I did my part, I bought a white T-shirt for work. Court rules dictates that all lawyers shall wear black and white in court.

Melaka 2005

Hen, Umeng, Peng, Jin Han, Soon Yean, Soon Loong, Wai Keong, YK and I went to Melaka (another state in Malaysia)for a night’s trip. We started our journey late, approximately about 5PM.
It only took us 1 ½ hours to get there. I slept throughout the entire journey to Melaka. It felt like a 10 minutes trip for me. Some bugger took a photo of me sleeping with my mouth open.wtf.. I hate it when people take pictures of me sleeping!!

Blackout

Recently, there was a major blackout in Kuala Lumpur. The entire Klang Valley was almost at a standstill. Offices had to close down and motorists were stuck on the road for hours.
I on the other hand was fortunate to skip that ordeal as my office was powered with a generator. I didnt even know that we had a blackout until my friends called me!
However, last week, my house had a blackout.
It was after dinner with Mum and Dad. The entire neighbourhood was lighted except ours. After an hour of investigation, we found out that the connecting device (some sort of fuse) has been removed!
We called the local council (TNB) to fix it. Minutes later, they arrived.
TNB guys: ko orang tak bayar bil ke? (you guys didnt pay the bills?)
Me: sapa kata takde bayar? nah ini recipnya, baru saja bayar. (I paid! here’s the receipt)
TNB guys: errr.. mungkin lambat bayar la.. (errr.. probably you guys paid late)
Me: kalau lambat bayar, ni kan baru satu bulan? takkan ko orang potong sekarangkan? tak yah bagi notis ke? (Eventhough we paid late, that doesnt warrant for a disconnection right? no need to give notice ah?)
TNB guys: errrr… tempat lain, lain la. adakala 1 bulan tak bayar kita potong, adakalan one tahun tak bayar pun belum potong!! (errrr…different place, different custom. sometimes we cut for 1 month overdue but for some places, they’re 1 year overdue!)
Me: ……
After all those hu-has, the TNB guys finally restored electricty back to my house with our spare connecting device.

Dad called TNB the next day, it seems that he didnt pay late. We had no idea who did it…until….one day, while having drinks with friends @ a mamak..I overhead a conversation…
Guy: mahai, u know ah that day, my house no electricty u know..
Guy2: wah what happened?
Guy: I went to check the problem and…suddenly… i saw a boy squatting down. wah so scared.. IT’S LIKE THE MOVIE JU-ON!! But then…I saw a screwdriver in his hands.. He removed my connecting device!!! I caught him and threatened to report him to the police. However, he begged me, saying that its his first time..this and that la..blablabla..
Guy2: wah what did you do after that?
Guy: I took the screwdriver and shove it up his ass. hoho
Guy2: O_O
Guy: nah, just joking, he screwed the connecting device back. Apparently he removed them so that he could put it into his bicycle. …
