Since sLoonG is leaving for Perth, we held a small gathering in honour of that occasion.
It was at Rum Jungle. Rum Jungle is one of the new clubs in town. Its interior is nice, huge and loads of space. Music wise, they play trance, r&b, rock songs and so on. It somehow caters for all sorts of clubbers. The pub has an army of liquor girls. Their job is to woo people into purchasing liquor bottles. I think the liquor girls get a cut from the liquor we purchase.

Have you seen this note before? No? Neither have I.
Bank Negara Malaysia in co-operation with Sukom Ninety Eight Berhad has issued a new RM50 note to commemorate the Kuala Lumpur ’98 XVI Commonwealth Games. This banknote is the first polymer banknote to be issued in Malaysia.
The design of the note will remind the world of Malaysia as a world class sporting destination. The front side features the portrait of the first Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the right and the Kuala Lumpur city skyline with prominent landmarks in the centre. The Commonwealth Games Look Programme which features the stylised butterfly symbol and the gold-coloured Optical Variable Device (OVD) with the portrait of the first Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong in the clear window appear on the left. The logo of Bank Negara Malaysia appears in the other clear window on the right of the note. The Kuala Lumpur International Airport is featured as the central backdrop. To the right, the background design shows the artist’s impression of the Multimedia Super Corridor connecting Kuala Lumpur City Centre to Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and the new Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The back design shows the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil in the centre. The logo of the Kuala Lumpur ’98 XVI Commonwealth Games appears on the left of the note.
The main security features of the RM50 polymer note are highlighted below as a guide to assist the public. It combines conventional security features commonly found in paper banknotes and innovative security features which are unique to polymer banknotes. These features provide protection against the use of contemporary high-resolution digital colour copiers and scanners.
The public is advised to look carefully for the security features to differentiate the genuine notes from the counterfeits.

I don’t know whether it’s a trend now or pure coincidence that missing dogs posters are everywhere on the streets.
I saw one on a lampost nearby my house. Then I saw this flyer (below) enclosed with my newspaper.
To those who missed out a comment I made on Frank’s previous post, here’s a full report of it.
It was many years back, when all we cared were SPM (high school exam) and games. my friends and I were waiting for Kiang‘s Dad to fetch us from Adnan’s Corner.
Then we saw a missing dog poster pasted on a public telephone. The dog’s name was Bobby. Suddenly, out of no where, **** (censored to protect the privacy of the person) picked up the phone and called the missing dog’s owner.
“Hello”, “the dog owner answered”.
In a squeeky voice, my friend said,
“hello hello..this is bobby zhai… help me help me!! woof woof woof wooofff!!!”
We were literally rolling on the floor laughing out loud.
aahh..those were the days..
This year round, we didn’t have over 100 people. We got about 80 people! Further it was good to see some new faces too. Shout outs to those who came from Canada, New Zealand, Africa and Japan! 😀
It was a great networking event. I guess loads of people got to know loads of other people. Many thanks to Sui Lin for organizing it.

My buddy, Geraldine Wee needs your help!!! Her beloved dog, Bones is missing. Here is what she has to say:
If you could please take some time to read this, and then forward it on to your friends, I would be extremely grateful.
I will try and keep this as non-dramatic as possible, though it may be difficult.
Bones has been with my family ever since 9 years ago. I guess it may be difficult for non-dog lovers to understand but we really do consider her to be part of the family.
After my A Levels in Malaysia, I came to UK to study, and have since stayed on to work. I am the youngest child in my family, and hence the ‘baby’ in my parents eyes. It has been difficult for them to let me go, and having Bones around helped them to cope with my not being there. She is the most lovable and friendly dog; very trusting in nature.
I ring home every week or so, and when I rang today, my Dad picked up – he sounded like he had a sore throat and of course you know how you ask ‘Hello, how are you?’ and he then answered ‘Not too goodlah’ and I thought he as ill of health or something along those lines, and then he said that Bones was missing.
She’s been missing since 10 days ago, but they only just told me, because they didn’t want to worry me. That breaks my heart – I am upset that Bones has gone missing, but what’s even more upsetting is hearing how sad my Dad sounds. He was very attached to her – after all in my absence he took care of her. He is an old man okay – turning 60 in May, yet still feeding her, bending down to bathe her every week, and he sounded so upset. The thought of him crying is just too upsetting. I feel so useless not being at home – can’t help them leaflet, can’t just be there to comfort each other.
Mom and Dad have made flyers, put ads in the major newspapers, made visits to MPPJ and PAWS (something Animal Welfare Society) but without any success thus far. So after all this, I guess the only thing I can contribute from so bloody far away is to ask you to pls pls pls read this, look out for her, and pass this on to your friends as well and ask her to do the same.
I know not everyone might get it – she’s just a dog after all, but like I said, I’m upset, but I’m more upset to hear how upset my parents are. I don’t care if someone has adopted her and is looking after her – I want her back. I want us to be the ones looking after her. So even if there’s some cute kid involved whose parents think Bones will be good company, I don’t care. It’s not right and it’s the selfish thing to do. Bones belongs to someone – to us, and she is loved and missed and I just want my parents to be happy again. So pls pls return her.
My dad’s (Tony Wee) mobile phone number is 0122012698 and our house number is 78040802. Attached is a picture of Bones. Please read and pass round and hopefully it’ll reach somebody who knows something. Mom and Dad say that they have had loads of calls, so it’s great that ppl are responding, and hopefully we’ll get Bones back.
email@example.com (best way to get in touch though pls ring my parents first)”
Those who stay around ss24, ss23, ss2 and ss3 PJ plz keep your eyes open for Bones
Enclosed here is also a flyer with Bones picture attached…If possible plz forward it to your friends around PJ and DJ.
On the 8th day of Chinese New Year, Chinese would celebrate the Jade Emperor’s Birthday. It would come with firecrackers, food, offerings and burning of incense. The story says that a long time ago, an ethnic group attempted to kill all the Fukien-Chinese. The Chinese were frightened and fled into a forest which was surrounded by sugarcanes. They stayed in the jungle until the 8th day of Chinese New Year when their enemies were gone.
This year, I had to opportunity to witness this event at En Peng’s house. I brought Jane along as well.
Since the altar table was filled with loads of stuff, En Peng’s relatives were kind enough to shower Jane with attention and gave many detailed explanations to them. Each and every thing on the table symbolizes something.
We started with some titbits. Then about 12:30, the entire neighbour hood was lighted up with firecrackers. The compulsory red crackers were lighted up. Those resembling New Years Eve firecrackers were present as well! Kids and elders ran for cover from falling debris when the New Years Eve firecrackers were lighted up.
Beheading in process..
Ping and his twin brother..
Right after the firecrackers session, we gambled. The layan-ers dipped RM1 while the hardcore gamblers threw in a fortune to make money. I on the other hand, left the table after losing RM5.
We left about 1AM! Attending court the next morning half asleep is a torture. But it was well worth it!
To those who didn’t know, see below.
Dont feel shy, just come! However, make sure you introduce yourself to us and also mingle around with other bloggers (friendsters invited as well!). Please dont sit at the corner and keep quiet! Nothing is gonna happen if you’re not proactive!
See you guys soon!
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the power of love…
Amazing isn’t it? It usually takes 7 beers for me to FEEL the POWER of LOVE.
P.S. Happy Belated Valentine’s day!
