Celine Dion @ Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur – 13.4.2008

I managed to catch the Diva on stage, on a RM1000 seat – courtesy of A. Despite being on a RM1000 chair, Celine Dion was 5 inches tall. I bet those who had the RM200 ticket could only see a 5mm tall Celine Dion.

I boasted to my friend that my RM1000 would be close enough to smell Celine Dion. However, there was another section in front of us reserved for VVIP. Damn, now they know how Celine Dion smells like.

It rained heavily before the concert hence the weather was cooling. However, our seats were located on grass and everything was wet. Insects were flying around too. One dragonfly almost crashed onto my face.

The show was scheduled to start at 8pm but it only started around 9pm because we had to wait for Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong to arrive. Deputy Prime Minister and wife and also Tun Dr Mahathir and wife were present as well – in a yellow box far away from the stage.
As soon as the Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong arrive, Celine Dion appeared on stage and started singing all her best known hits. The concert lasted for around 2 hours with uncountable songs being sung. I heard that Fat Kingston (Sean Kingston), who had a concert a day before, was an hour late and sung only 3 songs.
Celine Dion was amazingly good. She sound exactly like her songs from the CDs. She ended her concert with Malaysia’s all time favourite, the bloody Titanic song.

There was a huge commotion when Tun Dr Mahathir and wife left the stadium. Many were rushing towards Tun Dr Mahathir to shake his hands and people started pushing and shoving until his body guard had to make way for him.

Spot Tun Mahathir and wife!
Suddenly..
Lady’s Voice: TUN!!! WE LOVE YOUU!!!!!!!!!!
Crowd: wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Gamarjobat – A shut up comedy from Japan @ Actor’s Studio, Bangsar Shopping Centre

3rd March – 19th March 2006
RM52 – RM92
Tuesday ~ Thursday 8PM, Friday 9PM, Saturday 3PM, 9PM Sunday 3PM, 8PM.

Gamarjobat is a silent comedy by 2 Japanese men. Not a single comprehensible word was spoken during the entire show. The sound effect, the lightning and the costumes fueled the entire show. And..
It was FUNNY with capitals!

The sound effect and lighting were very precise. It was as if it was programmed.

The show was divided into 2 parts, the first part being a slapstick-and-mime-like comedy and the second part is a silent play about a boxer. They even pulled some audience to perform with them. Some of the participants on the stage were entertaining as well 😀 We laughed non stop.

There was one part they played Doraemon’s theme song and one of the duo was mimicking Doraemon. Everyone laughed out loud except for the 4 Caucasians sitting in front of us… HOW CAN THEY NOT KNOW DORAEMON????

The show ended with a standing ovation. Yes, it was that good.

Sheffield University Alumni Dinner @ Shangri-la Hotel, 25.9.2005

The venue

The Food

The Gang
Most of the participants were young members of the Sheffield University Alumni.
It was great catching up with old classmates such as Chuo Ming, Jon, Janet, Mitchie, Cynthia, Su San, Aik Keong, Alex Ng, Allen, Siew Lee, Lee Chin, Janet, and many others. Also, of course, Sam who just came back from UK. The gang didn’t change much, they were the same old people I met in Sheffield University 5 years back.
I was expecting huge ballroom with tables and chairs provided and people divided according to tables. However, it was a lounge party where people get to mingle around freely.
I had a chat with Peter Fleming, the Vice Chancellor of Sheffield Uni.
Me: I kinda miss our Sheffield University email. I wish I could use it again .
Peter: That is a good idea. I should bring this up to the committee!
Then a friend proceeded to talk about how the email benefited her. I added
“On a sentimental part, it would be great if I could use the email and use it to keep in contact with those former students of Sheffield University”
Peter: GREAT GREAT IDEA (and gave me two thumbs up!)
He even said that I’ll be the first person to get my old Sheffield uni email!
3 weeks later… no news about the email till now. doh!
