Futsal Injuries

I usually don’t get injuries from futsal but I do get a lot of injuries from rock climbing. You can read some entries on my rock climbing injuries here.

Usually my futsal injuries are quite mild, save for one or two incidents which were bad.

Feel down and scraped my knee few months ago..

Few days later…it got infected..uh

A couldn’t find any bandages at her house so she got hold of whatever that sticks to cover the wound. DJ Anatta said it is made of “love” -_-

Few weeks ago, my friends and I played futsal at our usual futsal place at Samba de Futsal. We were short of 2 players hence we asked a bunch of kids who were playing before us. The kids were probably around early 20s. They were more than happy to join us.

I must say that it was an enjoyable game as the kids were quite good. Feels young again to play with kids!

During the game, I had to challenge one of the kids for the ball. While doing so, I accidentally tripped on the kid’s feet and fell on my knees. As I was falling, my face scrapped on net.

The net is like this

When I stood up, everyone was staring at me. One person said, “Your face is bleeding!”. I wiped my face with my jersey and only saw a dot of blood. My first thought was, “NIA MA WHERE GOT??”

Few minutes later, I went to look at the mirror and I saw myself..

GG MAXIMUM

But it didn’t hurt at all. In fact, I was so tired that all I felt was exhaustion. After resting for a while, I went back to the pitch again!

When I got home, my Mum scolded me and said, “YOU THINK YOU’RE BECKHAM AH??!!!”. I’m already 30 years old and I still get scolded for this kind of thing -___-

So, on the same day, I went to see my neighbourhood doctor. He thought I got beaten up -_-

Notwithstanding the injury, my biggest worry wasn’t that my face was mutated.

I was actually more worried with my presentation to some bankers three days later. GG

My face 3 days later..

Fortunately, the presentation went well and the condition of my face was an ice breaker for many of my conversations. A blessing in disguise!

My Dad said that my bruises may stay for two months. Fortunately, it subsided in 5 days. I was back on the pitch a week there after!

Climbing Accident – Part IV

Yet another addition to my climbing injuries entries.

The first entry was about my foot.

The second was about Cleo’s Most Eligible Bachelor Contestant No 16 Cris’s palm.

The third was about a rope burn I had.

Then few weeks back, I sustained another injury from climbing. This time round is a little bit serious. I over strained my middle finger muscles – both hands – after climbing the entire day and ending it with 200 straight pull ups using my fingers. The pull ups caused too much strain on my fingers until I couldn’t grip anything for few weeks. At one point, my fingers will hurt when it is about to rain.

To avoid ending my climbing career early, I decided to procure the help of a physiologist. Gleneagles Hospital was my first choice as it is near my office.

Before making my first appointment, I had to get a referral letter from a doctor. Getting the letter was quite easy. All I said was, “Dr. I need a referral letter to see a physiologist”.

Located on the 4th Floor of Gleneagles Hospital @ Jalan Ampang, the place is quite pleasant. It didn’t feel like gloomy at all. They even have TV for us to watch.

My physio is a young lady by the name Jeya. When I told her about my problem, she immediately know what to do. She got my hands dipped in melted wax.

Now I know why people like SM with wax kekeke. Notice the tone of my hand?

When the wax hardens, I had to put my hands into a plastic bag and thereafter into an oven mitt. When I wore the oven mitt, one of the nurses said, “you look like you’re going to cook!”. -_-

Thereafter, I have to wait for 10 minutes before taking the oven mitt, plastic bag and wax out. I was told that the wax treatment helps my recovery – perhaps with the blood circulation.

The next treatment was ‘ultrasound’. I always thought ultrasound is for pregnant ladies but this ultrasound helps my recovery. It emits sound waves into my muscles and it hurts sometimes!!

Ultrasound machine.

The treatment, which lasts around an hour, cost me RM58. So far I’ve been to a few rounds of treatment and my fingers are getting better. However, I am getting poor from all these medical fees. GG

Note to self: No more 200 pull ups after climbing!!

Climbing Accident – Part III

Due to an exhausting Saturday i.e. from Pushmore, Futsal and drinking, I had a hard time climbing on Sunday. While lead climbing a 6C route..

Me: I can do it!!
Belayer: YES U CAN!!
Me: aaaa rrr ggg hhhhh !!!!!! tuuuuunnaaasssiiinnggggg

I fell from the second bolt ended up scraping my arm on the rope.

Thereafter, I had some lovely white liquid oozing out from my wound. The pain started trickling in. This type of injury is quite common among climbers. We call it ‘rope burn’.

I read from somewhere that to treat minor rope burn injuries, the injured part should be placed under slowly running water and then covered with a clean, sterile, non-fluffy dressing.

But what I did was leaving it alone for few days. 2 weeks later, the wound was fully dried up and healed!

This entry serves as my third entry on climbing injury 😀 See

Climbing Accident – Part I

Climbing Accident

I had a little accident while bouldering. I was cleaning this simple route for n00bs. While on the last move, I took a plunge from the top and was sent crashing down the mattress. Unfortunately, there was a gap between the mattresses and my right feet slotted nicely into the gap.
In the process, I hit my heel on the floor.

Immediately after crashing down, all eyes were on me…
Me: NO PROBLEM!!! MOUU MAN TAIII!!
Few minutes later…
Me: argghhh…GG already…damn pain..

On the next day, I had limped my way to and back from Court.
I went to see my company doctor on my bruised heel. Doctor said I ruptured an blood vessel.

Me: Do you think I’ve broken something or fractured something?
Dr: Noo…if you did, you wont be able to walk here.. it will be extremely swollen..
Me: OK..as a matter of precaution, I think I should go and do xray..
Dr: Sure
Me: Can I do it here?
Dr: no but I will send you to another Clinic which is 5 minutes walk from here
Me: O_o I think I’ll pass, I don’t think I can walk there!!

[Edit: Day 3 = getting better!]
