November Babies Birthday 2010

I haven’t been blogging about my activities for a while now. I thought I would take the opportunity to blog about my high school buddies’ birthday celebration for those birthday which falls on November.

Dinner was held at Dorae Korean restaurant at Hartamas. Food was awesome. Side dishes came in non stop. BBQ pork, lamb and beef were tasty!

We had a private room. It was nice and cozy but it was a little bit hard to get the waiters’ attention. When ever we wanted them to replenish the side dishes, we will scream “MOAR!!!!!!!!!!”.

We shared a gift for the birthday boys/girl.

KF and Timothy both got a pair of Massimo Dutti cuff links each.

Peng got a bag full of moisturizer and cream.

This was WK’s reaction after we told him we forgot to buy him a present.

WK’s reaction after we told him we were just joking.

After dinner, we had drinks at Smoke & Fire at Gardens Mid Valley. The place was rather dead. There were only a few people there and we took up almost an entire section of the club.

We started off with couple of beers and stout and then moved to whiskey.

The highlight of the night is probably the Flaming Lamborghini. For RM70, I thought it was a little bit pricey but when we saw the thing being served, it was VALUE tou hai kamion!!!

It came with 3 additional shots of shitty stuff.

The entire bar table was on fire! I was reluctant to approach it initially as I fear that the fire will burn my hair and eyebrows -___-

Almost all of us vomited when we took a sip. Peng vomited all over the floor after a few gulp -___-

About 7 – 8 of us shared 3 flamings but we were defeated by it in the end. For the first time, we couldn’t finish our flamings!

We took it back to our table and drank it as shots. It was the worst drink ever.

Towards the end of the night, some of us decided to mix all leftover drinks together and drink it. It was a mixture of stout, beer, flaming and Graveyard.

I went home crashing on the bed immediately. I had to swear off drinks for 2 weeks. Until I meet this fellow…

Guinness and Strongbow mix. Stay tuned for this entry!

Guinness Stout

[Advertorial]

When I was young, I found a can of beer in my fridge. I’ve seen people drinking beer on TV and they seem to enjoy it. So out of curiosity, I took the beer and had a sip of it. It ended up in the rubbish bin thereafter. It was terrible!

Years later, I decided to give it a try again. It wasn’t so bad. However, I soon realize that whenever I drink beer, I get blocked nose and a few KGs heavier thereafter.

Then I found Guinness!

It was bitter at first but after a few drinks, I got fond of it. It tastes creamy and thick. Unlike beer, the foam of is best part of the drink!
After drinking it for a few years, I realize that Guinness has a long history behind it. It was created 250 years ago in Ireland by a man by the name Arthur Guinness. 4 years later, he acquired a 9,000 year lease on the four-acre brewery at St. James’s Gate from Mark Rainsford for an annual rent of £45. The lease still exists today at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin!

And this month, Guinness is sending someone to Dublin, Ireland!

Of course, you have to earn the free tip. Just take a look at the picture below.

Delaney’s @ Federal Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

[Advertorial]

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner hence to warm things up, Melvin, Tania, A and I went to Delaney’s @ Federal Hotel for a pint of ‘Black Gold’ to warm up for the event.

When I told my friends about Delaney’s, none of them know about the place. Apparently, the place has been around for more than 10 years.

Even the façade and interior looks old school.

Although it was a Friday night, the place wasn’t crowded. It also had a live band playing some nice tunes.

I was told that over 100 pubs are having a Guinness promotion and Delaney’s is one of them. The promo’s name is Guinness St. Patrick’s Finger Food Festival. I also heard that you can get a redemption stamp card from the barmen to win Guinness St Pat’s hat. All you need to do is to collect 12 stamps.

You have a few choices of finger food. For us, we ordered the Chicken Wing Balls with French Fries.

Duck Meat Spring Roll – not part of the promotion but sounds interestingggg

Waiting for my Guinness to come – Cant wait! Drink fake 1 first..nomnomnom

Here it is!!! woooo My Black Gold!

Chicken Wing Balls – I thought it would look something like fishballs.

Oh, it comes with a free gift. A luggage lock! Great!

I don’t know why but the Guinness Draught at Delaney’s tasted much better. It was fresh and milky! After a long day at work, a big gulp of the Black Gold is magic!

Guinness Stout has always been my preferred choice of alcoholic drinks. It doesn’t give me runny nose like beer and it doesn’t give me hangovers like hard liquor. I wish every bar serves Guinness Stout!

After finishing our finger food, we ordered more food.

Cheese baked potatoes – zomggg the cheeeseee. It came with a generous amount of potatoes – baked to the core with melted cheese spread all over it. Absolutely yummy.

Sheppard’s pie – came with a thick layer of mash potatoes covering a layer of stewed beef. Tassty!

After eating 3 meals with potatoes (French fries, baked potatoes and mashed potatoes), we were stuffed!
