Cendol @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Petaling Jaya
Cendol is a traditional Asian dessert which basic ingredients consist of shaved ice, coconut milk, starch noodles with green food coloring, and palm sugar. Red beans, glutinous rice, grass jelly, and creamed corn are sometimes added.
In a small park along Jalan Damansara in Taman Tun Dr Ismail lies a small portable stall – on a bike, serving cendol. It’s manned by an elderly Indian man.
The method of churning out the cendol is extremely old school. A block of ice will be grinded against a wooden with a blade in the middle. Shredded ice will then fall into a bowl which later is filled with coconut milk. It does look a bit unhygienic. Nevertheless, it’s tasty, especially with Indian uncle’s sweat.
The park is a great place to enjoy a bowl of cendol on hot day with insects flying around.
Other than cendol, there is a famous stall selling rojak, an Asian fruit and vegetable salad dish.

Celine Dion @ Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur – 13.4.2008
I managed to catch the Diva on stage, on a RM1000 seat – courtesy of A. Despite being on a RM1000 chair, Celine Dion was 5 inches tall. I bet those who had the RM200 ticket could only see a 5mm tall Celine Dion.
I boasted to my friend that my RM1000 would be close enough to smell Celine Dion. However, there was another section in front of us reserved for VVIP. Damn, now they know how Celine Dion smells like.
It rained heavily before the concert hence the weather was cooling. However, our seats were located on grass and everything was wet. Insects were flying around too. One dragonfly almost crashed onto my face.
The show was scheduled to start at 8pm but it only started around 9pm because we had to wait for Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong to arrive. Deputy Prime Minister and wife and also Tun Dr Mahathir and wife were present as well – in a yellow box far away from the stage.
As soon as the Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong arrive, Celine Dion appeared on stage and started singing all her best known hits. The concert lasted for around 2 hours with uncountable songs being sung. I heard that Fat Kingston (Sean Kingston), who had a concert a day before, was an hour late and sung only 3 songs.
Celine Dion was amazingly good. She sound exactly like her songs from the CDs. She ended her concert with Malaysia’s all time favourite, the bloody Titanic song.
There was a huge commotion when Tun Dr Mahathir and wife left the stadium. Many were rushing towards Tun Dr Mahathir to shake his hands and people started pushing and shoving until his body guard had to make way for him.
Spot Tun Mahathir and wife!
Suddenly..
Lady’s Voice: TUN!!! WE LOVE YOUU!!!!!!!!!!
Crowd: wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I got involved in a fight
Few days back, I had one bizarre fight – with a cat.
It was after work. I got out from my car and I heard loud hissing sounds from my front door. It was a huge cat beating up one of my cats, which my Mum fondly calls “Pak Pak” (literally means white white).
Pak Pak was hiding underneath a chair and Fat Cat was trying to force his way underneath the chair. Being the master of Pak Pak, I immediately rolled my newspaper in a club and ran to save Pak Pak from the evil Fat Cat.
Upon reaching them, Pak Pak ran out from the chair and Fat Cat started attacking Pak Pak. I swung my paper club towards Fat Cat but I missed and hit the floor. Before I could regain myself, Fat Cat jumped toward my left shoulder and head butted my shoulder. THE BLOODY CAT HEAD BUTTED ME MAAAHEEEMMM!!
Fat Cat ran away immediately. I grabbed a wooden pole and started chasing Fat Cat like a tribesman hunting a deer. Unfortunately, Fat Cat managed to escape.
Now I got a bruised shoulder. I got p4wned by a cat!

Saw this on Lynnzter’s blog. LOL!@!!!!
If you can’t see what’s wrong with the pictures above, they wrongly put former Deputy Prime Minister and also de facto head of opposition, Anwar Ibrahim’s picture as current Prime Minister’s picture.

Wanted! Nice-Looking Lawyers
During the old days, advertisements looking for lawyers or chambering student had few details about the law firm. An example would be,
“Local law firm seeking for litigation lawyer with 1 – 2 years experience. Call Ms Sek Si at XXXX”. With the relaxation of the publicity rules, particulars of the law firm are fully disclosed and it is now possible for lawyers or chambering students in West Malaysia to look for jobs online. One of them would be the Malaysian Bar website.
The Malaysian Bar website has gone through a face lift which resulted in a 5 digits hits a day. Everyday, it updates the public and also members of the Bar of important news and interesting events.
One law firm Kuala Lumpur posted an advertisement seeking for lawyers with the following description:-
“We are looking for a smart, self motivate, can work as a team, hardworking, nice-looking, pleasant and friendly as conveyancing legal assistant. All races, male or female are welcome to apply.”
As harmless as it seems, this description caused an uproar and even placed itself on the Malaysian Bar website, in par with important news such as the Linggam gate!
NYLC takes objection to a job advert

KUALA LUMPUR, Mon: The new Chairman of the National Young Lawyers Committee, Roger Tan said he was not too happy with a job advertisement posted by a Kuala Lumpur law firm on the Bar Website seeking for a conveyancing legal assistant who must, among other things, be a “nice-looking” lawyer with 1 or 2 years’ experience.
Tan said already some young law graduates find it hard to seek employment in the Klang Valley, what more with the imposition of an irrelevant consideration.
“What do you mean by “nice-looking” especially when beauty and looks lie in the eyes of the beholder?
“I hope law firms will give more regard to the professional qualifications and merits of an applicant rather than such extraneous matters”, said Tan.
He added that in future if any firm should impose such an unfair condition, it should not be allowed to advertise anymore on the Bar Website.

Diamonds & Pearls ft. DJ Anatta @ 7atenine – 22.3.2008
As part of the F1 party series, aunty DJ Anatta played an awesome set at 7atenine.
7atenine is a…well it’s hard to explain. It serves food – al fresco dining with Asian and Western cuisine. It also has a DJ console and small dance floor. It’s owned by the husband and wife team who also owns Souled Out and Café WIP in Kuala Lumpur.
The interior is excellent and has great view of the Petronas Towers. Music is not too loud, great place to chat. Drinks are reasonably priced too.
[Pictures courtesy of Sow]
Cris, Sow, Melvin, ivN, Eric and I went on ground to give our support to DJ Anatta. Right opposite us was a group of ladies tearing the dance floor with DJ Anatta’s music. We were pretty amazed as this group of ladies are umm.. looked like they’re having their time of their life as their husbands are not in town.
We later found out that the group of ladies were actually DJ Anatta’s ex classmates. O_o
Before DJ Anatta’s session ended, we were given free pasta (in a paper box). I was told that this was a practice by 7atenine to clear their leftovers whenever their kitchen closes.

Timothy & Kabien’s Wedding – Part II
The seventh task was to paint our faces with certain letters from the alphabet to form the sentence, “Tim Loves Ka Bien”.
Thereafter, we adjourned to Timothy and Ka Bien’s spanking 1 million Ringgit house for the tea ceremony. Although the bride has been rescued from the evil chi muis, the rivalry between the heng tai and chi muis didn’t end at Ka Bien’s house. Just as one of the chi muis got out from her car, she was attacked by a few hengtais – with lipsticks which were used earlier to smear the hengtai’s faces. Although a great victory for the hengtais, poor Hen got hurt in the fight.
