Gua Damai @ Batu Caves

On Sunday, Amos, Cris, Ping and I forced ourselves to wake up to head to Gua Damai to climb. Since Krabi is just 3 months away, Ping, Cris and I had to familiarize ourselves again.

Gua Damai has changed tremendously since we came last year in February. There’s a grand entrance to Gua Damai now – with pathways and huts built around the vicinity.

Pathway for wheelchairs/trolleys!

3 years ago, the place was like this.

The old houses around Batu Caves were demolished and at one part, a playground sits over one of the old houses.

3 years ago, a monkey and rubbish sat here

Pool with stairways

3 years ago, no stairways!

Perhaps the only thing that didn’t change is that the place is still infested with monkeys.

Monkey having McD

Unfortunately, it was bloody hot. We went home with sunburn. We had to come out with ingenious ways to avoid the sun. Umbrellas were very handy.

Copycats!

We managed to top the “Monsoon” route (many rock climbing routes have names) – a long but easy route.

After topping 3 routes or so, we headed for lunch at Bintang 7 mamak.

Mmm..fulfilling lunch..

If Only I Could be a Road Rager

Now, does the word ‘rager’ actually exist?
If you know and have used the road to get to Plaza Mont Kiara or the Coffeebean / Baskin Robbins / SoHo at Mont Kiara Shoplex, you know that you don’t have to drive through Desa Sri Hartamas, but can take the right turn from the Penchala Link access road, right? (Okay, my description is bad, sorry!)
And you know how one lane leads you straight back to Desa Sri Hartamas and the other leads you to the places mentioned in the paragraph above, ya?
But you know how that particular lane can be rather long, due to the traffic lights during peak hours, ya?
So we have smart alecs a.k.a. idiotic drivers which brains the size of red beans who cut in right in front of the cue, ya?

When this situation happens, I really wish I had the guts to walk over to the driver’s window and smash it open, pull him out (oh I’m sure it’s ALWAYS a man!) and beat him up, and scream in his face with my saliva dripping down his eyes, tell him the next time he cuts the queue again, I will burn his house down, together with his 3 chickens, 2 dogs and Renoma briefs and stab him with a pitchfork!
And crush his balls with my stiletto heels.

Unique Drinks

On my last entry, I posted about one drink that looks like orange juice but it’s actually barley water.

I think entries about drinks is one topic that bloggers do not pay attention to. I’ll start the ball rolling.

Teh Botol & Teh Kotak @ Bali, Indonesia (quite common in Indonesia)

Coconut Shake @ Krabi, Thailand (gave me diarrhea)

Teh Madras @ Kota Kinabalu
And recently, I ordered this drink by the name “Ribena Cincau” @ Jetty, One Utama.

It’s a mixture of Ribena and Cincau (grass jelly). This is the first time I see such combination. Despite it’s novelty, the taste is pretty normal.

Anyone got any places to share?

All I want is unity

To a certain Ahmad,

Perhaps you have forgotten how Malaysia gained independency 51 years ago (for Peninsula Malaysia). Here listen to this song:

Oooh…here are the lyrics.

Affirmative may be justified take from one give to another
The goal is to be unified take my hand be my brother
The payment silenced the masses sanctified by oppression
Unity took a back seat sliding further into regression
Chorus:
One oh One the only way is One
One oh One the only way is One
I feel angry I feel helpless, wanna change the world yeah..
I feel violent I feel alone, don’t try and change my mind no..
Society blind by color why hold down one to raise another
Discrimination now on both sides seeds of hate blossom further
The world is headed for mutiny, when all we want is unity
We may rise and fall, but in the end we meet our fate together
Chorus:
One oh One the only way is One
One oh One the only way is One
I feel angry I feel helpless, wanna change the world yeah..
I feel violent I feel alone, don’t try and change my mind no..
I feel angry I feel helpless, wanna change the world yeah..
I feel violent I feel alone, don’t try and change my mind no..
I feel angry I feel helpless, wanna change the world yeah..
I feel violent I feel alone, don’t try and change my mind no..
I feel angry I feel helpless, wanna change the world yeah..
I feel violent I feel alone, don’t try and change my mind

And oooh…it’s a Mat Salleh song. Don’t mind me, i am only a “squatter”.

BTW, i think this year’s the national day theme is ‘Unity, the Thrust of Success’.

YHK Yong Tow Foo @ Damansara Utama / Uptown

YHK Yong Tow Foo is one of the famous Yong Tow Foo restaurants in the Klang Valley. Their main shop is located at Pudu. This review would only be on their Damansara Utama branch.

The only thing that attracts me here is their chee cheung fun. If you order the ‘big’ version of it, you’ll get a bowl of noodles in the shape of Mount Kinabalu. Their chee cheung fun has a soft and springy texture and its served with a generous serving of sweet sauce.

Big & Small

Unfortunately, their selection of yong tow foo is poor and is unhygienically displayed. So far so good, no diarrhea.

The drinks on the other hand is nothing to shout about save for one drink which appears to look like orange juice with barley extracts on the bottom. When I first saw it, I thought it was orange juice with barley. But it’s actually barley water. It tasted good!
