Instead of joining the tour of Singapore organised by Nuffnang, KY, ShaolinTiger, kimberlycun, itsablushberry and I slept in and made a trip to Kovan for my favourite noodles at AMK Teo Chew Noodles, Kovan. Nuffnang’s tour starts at 8am and we were only back in our hotel around 3am. Therefore, we decided to give it a skip.
The trip to Kovan was relatively long. Outram train station is about 8 minutes walk from our hotel and the Kovan train station is about 8 stops away. It probably took about half an hour to get there.
At Kovan, we met up with fireangel who threatened to beat me up if the pork noodles are not nice.
Pictures from KY’s blog.
I had blogged about this place at least 2 times but never once I had a vlog on it. Here is a video on how the noodles were made. It seems that it had a mixture of 4 type of yummy sauces.
So after lunch, we headed to Plaza Singapore to catch Inglorious Basterds. Unfortunately, it wasn’t showing and we ended up playing some games at a Sony Ericsson booth. 3 of them won SGD30 of Takashimaya shopping vouchers.
With the SGD30 vouchers, we redeemed 39 takoyaki balls.
The 6 of us only managed to finish 30 pieces – each had about 6 pieces. The 6th piece was really difficult to swallow. Damn jelak!
Now everyone knows the singer of Through My Window is Bunkface. But that’s only the beginning of this interesting song. Now a few local celebrities namely Shila, Tomok, Modread have come out the sing their own version of the song. My personal preference is Shila, click on her nick for her video. Shila is the first runner-up of One In A Million Season 2 and has three albums to her name – the latest, Bebaskan, was released last Aug 20. Nice!
Now everyone is invited to sing their own version of this song and stand a chance to perform in their own banner concert. The performers with the best rendition of Through My Window at an audition win the chance to be featured in the online banner concerts and also to perform live at the Everyone Connects event in Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, on Nov 21.
If you don’t know what a banner concert is, it is basically a gig played in a small box which is exactly the same scale of online advertisement banners. For example, if it is a square box banner, the members of a band have to squeeze into it.
For better understanding, you may check out the video below:
To enter the audition, participants may go to Everyoneconnects.net to upload a self recorded video or attend the audition at the Orange Entrance Area – Sunway Pyramid at 12 – 6 PM on 31st October and 1st November.
The best videos with the highest impressions will be chosen to run on online portals on 9th November.
Many thanks to Nuffnang for organising our trip to Singapore. Our transport and accomodation were sponsored by Nuffnang and also their sponsors e.g Pringles and Tourism Singapore.
Other than the Malaysian blogging community (around 100 bloggers), the Philippines and Australian blogging communities were flown to attend this event. I was told that 50 people came from Australia.
Nuffnangers @ Heritage House
We were put in to a nice boutique hotel by the name Link Hotel located at Tiong Bahru. The nearest train station is Outram which is about 5 to 8 minutes walk from Link Hotel.
@ the lobby of Link Hotel
My room was quite nice. I don’t mind stay in the room the whole day if I could.
Unfortunately, there is nothing nice to eat around the place in the day time. There is one restaurant by the name Kampong Chicken Eating House tasted so-so.
The event was held in Pan Pacific Hotel. Celebrity Allan Wu hosted the event.
We were also given a nice door gift containing rock candies. I remember trying them in Melbourne. You can have personalised messages imprinted on the candies. Nuffnang’s candies had the words ‘I love blogging’ and ‘NN Blog Awards’ and also Nuffnang’s logo.
A short clip of how Nuffnang started and how it had evolved was played before the presentation of the awards. The short clip was really well done and I was told by Michael and Jojo Stryus of Kyanite that they worked on it until 6am to produce the video. Their hard work paid off tremendously.
Welcome speech by Bossming and Timothy. It looked like both of them were getting married.
Out of the 12 awards, only 2 Malaysian bloggers won. Xiaxue dominated the awards by sweeping 3 awards namely best original blog design, most influential blog and region’s best blog. Singaporean, Australian and Pinoy bloggers had a fair share of their awards as well.
While making her acceptance speech, kennysia went up on stage, grabbed Xiaxue’s microphone and did a ‘Kanye West’. He said, ‘yo xiaxue, imma let u finish but Steven Lim has the best blog design ever!’.
Scrumptious meals that were served
There was also an award for bloggers who submits the best video entitled “Its Krrunch Time, Get Playful”. Singaporean jayleif won the contest together with SGD5000 cash. Check out the video below.
Here are some pictures taken from the night! (Lousy point and shoot, pardon the quality).
When the night was about to end, Bossming (co-founder of Nuffnang) came to me and told me that I have played a big part in Nuffnang and thanked me for it (I advise Nuffnang on their legal matters). It made my day!
The only drawback of this event is the absence of alcohol. We only had orange juice, coke and sprite for drinks :/ I was soooo thirsty! I guess its because of the participation of young bloggers in the event. Some are as young as 16 years old, like zoeyve -_-
To compensate for the lack of alcohol, KY, ShaolinTiger, kimberlycun, eyerizz, Mike Yip and gf and I headed to Brewerks at Clarke Quay for drinks. Their beers are brewed inhouse with all sorts of taste. Most of them tasted weird to me -_-
I can’t wait for the next Nuffnang blog award – with alcohol!!!!
Remember the song that I was asking about? The song that went
I don’t want much, I just want everything, I thought I could do everythingggg!!!
It seems that I wasn’t the only one curious about the person(s) who sang this song. It was even featured on the front page of the Star newspaper titled “Song causes a buzz..”
KUALA LUMPUR: Two days ago, media companies received an intriguing package containing a CD with a song entitled Through My Window, a website URL everyoneconnects.net and a cryptic message “open for collaborations”.
The catchy song was heard on major radio stations yesterday and DJs began talking about it. Almost everyone wanted to know more about the song and the singers behind it.
As expected, the wave hit microblogging service Twitter. ‘Twitterville’ is abuzz with DJs tweeting about the song and followers re-tweeting, discussing and adding their comments. The tweets range from what they felt about the song to what everyoneconnects.net might be.
If you haven’t heard the song “Through My Window”, you can listen to it or download it from www.everyoneconnects.net.
Well, now I finally got to know that the song was sang by local band Bunkface!
Bunkface is a band consisting of 4 young chaps which had started from scratch. They played in high school proms, charity events, dinner galas and winning some competitions before making it big and winning a few competitions. I think one of the well known songs is the song Situasi.
He was one of the best singers in Malaysia. Unfortunately, he passed away 17 years ago. However, every year we are reminded of his presence through his song “Balik Kampung” played during Hari Raya.
Too bad they make play songs like this anymore. Nevertheless, things have changed and we now see more and more home grown artists making it big.
English songs have been in the market for some time. Let’s walk down memory lane and see how many singers have come and gone.
Does anyone remember OAG?
This Malaysian band was famous when I was in high school. Their song 60s Tv
Almost at the same time, we had the well known Juliet the Orange duo.
Aahh.. my favourite, Quizzical
and not forgetting Eyelash!
I wonder what happened to them. I love their songs! I read that they broke up in 2001. I did a little research on the internet and I found out that one of singers, Marianne, became a lawyer and now has a website selling handmade jewelry.
After OAG and Juliet the Orange, I lost track of the Malaysian English music industry. However, recently, Zee Avi burst into the scene with her music
Very good!
Also, recently, I just heard this new song on the radio. It’s called Through My Window. The opening of the song is like this..
I don’t want much, I just want everything, I thought I could do everythingggg!!!
Well, Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Award is coming up on 23 October in Singapore. To entitle myself to a free trip to attend the event, I must write an entry on why I should be given this opportunity to experience.
This reminds me of a Ribena contest that I joined when I was kid. I won myself a watch after answering their question, “I want to join Ribena club because..” with “BECAUSE I WANT TO GOTO DISNEYLAND LA!!!”.
Malaysia’s first online reality show about bloggers codenamed “Project Alpha” was launched on 18 September 2009. I was given the privilege to prepare the agreement relating to the development of these online videos and also the protection of the code name. It was a rather interesting exercise as such type of work is quite rare in Malaysia.
If you have not been following my twitter, these are some pictures you may have missed out 😀
Mr. Blackberry!
Fellow climber Fai likes to smoke at the emergency escape (located at the second floor). To enter the emergency escape, one has to climb out from the window.
Then one day, we decided to lock him out.
One hour later…

I wonder what does honey massage means. Massage with honey or massaged by ‘honey’?.
Thanks to my 7K payment from Nuffnang, I finally could afford a new car. I traded my 10 years old Proton Satria for a Proton Saga SE (special edition) recently. It was recently launched and the newest batch has just rolled onto the streets. It only comes in 2 colours, red + black or white + black. I chose the former.
I was quite sad to let go of my Proton Satria. It had served me for 10 years. Now I understand that why some people don’t want to sell their old cars.
I bade Mr. Satria goodbye at Seapark’s Proton showroom.
Proton Saga SE is so far so good. The interior is nice – with leather seats. The exterior is also not bad. My dad mistaken my car for his Honda City.
However, I have few complains:
1. The windows at the back seat doesn’t come with powered windows.
2. It doesn’t have automatic lock i.e. The car doesn’t lock until I manually lock it.
3. There is no option to get the air conditioner to blow my feet.
4. The location of the control of the lights and wiper are continental style i.e the control for the lights is on the left while the control for the wiper is on the right
5. There is no buzzer to warn if I forget to turn off my lights.
Because of 4 and 5, I left my car lights on for 4 hours and the battery died thereafter. I couldn’t jump start my car because the battery was absolutely flat and the jump start cable wasn’t thick enough. Kevin was nice enough to help and even sent me home.
On the next day, I got Adrian to help the next day. He came with a battery booster to charge my battery and got the car started in no time!
This little thing called battery booster is a life saver. However, this little thing is not cheap. It can cost up to RM600 per piece!
Note to self: Install a buzzer + automatic lock soon!
