Nuffnang’s 1st Anniversary Party a.k.a Pajama’s Party

I was there and I was bored. But it was great to meet some old friends and bloggers whom I knew online for quite some time.

Food and beer were free flow whole night but beer ran out before I could get my hands on it. The party had couple of girls in costumes e.g. Nurse, French maid, police women (in hot pants). Wow.. and I thought it was a pajamas party. Notable highlight was the presence of celebrity bloggers such as Kenny Sia, Xia Xue and Dawn Yang (Hot!).

Nuffnang, the best blog advertising company in Asia, celebrated its 1st anniversary on 27 February 2008. And in celebrating this joyous occasion, Nuffnang is throwing a party with bloggers from Malaysia and Singapore themed the Pajama Party at Borneo Baruk Club in Kuala Lumpur on the 15th of March 2008.
To get access to the party you just need to write a blog entry according to the theme, it’s limited to 300 places to get your entry in quick. In line with the election fever…

Vote for Parti Cap Chipster! I sleep better with them in power… (subliminal message intended :D)

My first payment from Nuffnang

TO ALL MALAYSIAN BLOGGERS!

FORGET ABOUT MEAGER CHEQUES FROM OTHER LOCAL BLOG ADVERTISING!! JOIN NUFFNANG AS A NUFFNANG EXCLUSIVE AND YOU’LL GET…

1) Payment Rates for both Cost Per Unique Visitor and Cost-Per-Click.
The less ads a blogger has on his blog, the higher share of voice and the less each ad will have to compete with other ads for attention. Hence, the higher the CTR and the higher the value of that particular ad space on the blog.

That is why for example you will never see 8 different ads on the same page on a newspaper unless it’s in the Classifieds where each advertiser pays a small amount.

As a result of that, Glitterati Nuffnangers will earn 20-40% more than ordinary Nuffnangers.

2) Payment Terms
In the advertising industry just like in many industries, payment from advertisers come from specific terms like 60 or 90 days. In the past, Nuffnang has used its cash reserves to pay off bloggers for campaigns that we still have not been paid for by our clients. Due to the great increase of bloggers in the Nuffnang community, we are no longer able to provide this service for all our Nuffnangers and unfortunately will have to restrict this service to Nuffnang Glitterati.

However, all Nuffnangers will still be paid in a timely manner as stipulated in the Program Table.

3) Advertorial Opportunities
Many bloggers know that while banner ad campaigns earn a decent stable income, it is advertorials that pay the most. Each advertorial depending on the advertiser, commitment and traffic can earn a blogger a minimum of RM 50 to RM 1,500 not including freebies that may sometimes be included.

In the past, advertorial opportunities were available for all our Nuffnangers. However, due to the high demand for advertorials and the need for us to narrow down which blogger of the thousands will get advertorials, only exclusive bloggers will now be eligible for advertorials.

4) Community Events
Nuffnang is known to organize the biggest community events ever which range from free movie screenings, lunch meet ups and many more. We find that in many of these events, many Nuffnangers would like to bring guests along with them and we at Nuffnang would like to oblige as much as we can.

As such, 70% of the seats for each event will be allocated to Nuffnang Glitterati AND the guests they may bring.

5) Contests
Contests among Nuffnangers have been something we’ve been having quite a lot with many bloggers winning everything from free meals at Friday’s to mobile phones or even the upcoming contest of a free trip to Gold Coast. With the high demand for these contests, we will give priority to Nuffnang Glitterati with 70% of the prizes to be allocated to them and the remaining 30% to be allocated to non-Nuffnang Glitterati.

6) Innit
Innit is a tool developed and hosted by Nuffnang to add the additional service of driving traffic to any Nuffnang blog. This tool will now only be restricted to Nuffnang Glitterati since it is within our best interest of our community not to indirectly drive any traffic to a future competing network.

The vast majority of the Nuffnang Community is already eligible for the exclusive program so there isn’t much to worry about. All of us at Nuffnang sincerely hope that this new initiative will show how much we do appreciate your loyalty.

Twentyone @ Changkat Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

I didn’t have the chance to review this place when I visited Twentyone, a restaurant cum club located in Changkat Bukit Bintang. last year. However, in conjunction with Sharon Dilirius’ birthday, we celebrated her birthday at Twentyone.
The ground floor serves as a restaurant while the 2nd floor serves as a club, with a small dance floor which plays house music and some retro hits. The patrons range ranging from your local yuppies to foreign expats. According to Sharon, “It’s a place to see and to be seen”.

At the 2nd floor lounge
We ordered 2 bottles of Black Label to be shared among the girls. The girls on other hand ordered mocktails which I must admit was quite nice. The price is quite reasonable too. I had one delicious Strawberry Delissh. Highly recommended.

View from above
Unfortunately, the place was extremely packed which resulted in slow service. Some drinks that we ordered didn’t arrive.
Nevertheless, I would recommend this place to those who wishes to have a good night out. The place is usually pack hence please make reservations.

Jacob’s World @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre

Recently, Jacob’s biscuit started a contest. It’s the typical count-the-biscuit contest. However, the rules contest is pretty vague. We were given a small picture of the Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower made from Jacob Biscuits with the width and height of the said tower. We have to figure out how many Jacob biscuits were used to construct the said tower.

How many biscuits were used to buid the miniatuare KLCC biscuit structure? (Can you see the typo? LOL!!)
The first prize would be a trip to Europe, New Zealand or Australia. Second would be a trip to Vietnam, Indonesia or Thailand. There are also 10 consolation prizes to be won (trip to Langkawi).
It is impossible to judge how many biscuits were used to construct the said tower from the picture given. However, we discovered that Jacob was having a roadshow at 1 Utama which displayed various mini famous structures made from Jacob’s biscuit. The Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower was one of them.

Taj Mahal pun ada.

To calculate the number of biscuits, one can do so by drawing up the plan of the structure. Obviously, before one can construct such structure, they must come out with a plan. We ingeniously drew a rough sketch of the towers dividing them into few parts.

After spending an hour calculating the number of biscuit and figuring out how the internal structure was like, we left the place with a number of digital photographs. Thereafter, we studied the photographs to correct any discrepancies in our calculation.
We then realised that the towers provided in the contest form is not identical from the structure displayed at 1 Utama. The discrepancies are as such:
(1) the latter had 4 additional biscuits on top of its towers;
(2) the bridge is located on different floors of both towers;
(3) there is no connecting structure in the base of the former;
(4) the base of the towers of the former is square while the latter is round.
And now how the hell are we supposed to calculate the number of biscuits?? Is it based on the contest form or the real structure??

The return of Captain Yeap – 28 December 2007

Captain Yeap is back from Bangladesh after attending a 6 months course to study about radars. In conjunction with his return, we had a karaoke session at Neway Puchong. The price was pretty reasonable, RM50 for buffet and don’t know how many hours of karaoke. I think it was from 830pm to 230am. The food was good. It was served ala hotel style with Chinese, Western and Japanese food.
I had dinner before the karaoke session. After few plates of sushi, I felt like exploding. Oh, their beer sucked big time. I had bitter aftertaste each sip. Terrible.

The gang sang Chinese, Malay, Japanese and even Thai songs throughout the night.
When the bill came, it came up to RM900++. RM80 for fruits and RM90 for NUTS!!??

As we were walking out from the karaoke lounge..
Waiter: Thank you for coming…
WK: Lengjai, lei geh fa sang hou guai ah!! (Oi! Your nuts damn expensive!!!!)
Us: LOL!!!

Pre New Years Eve Celebration

I have this habit of going to the office at wee hours in the morning e.g. 12am, 1am. Although its quite scary sometimes, it’s a good time to work as I’m free from interruption and able to concentrate on my work.

So on New Years eve morning, one of my clients wanted something urgent hence I had to drive to the office at 12am to sort out his stuff.
As usual, the office was dark and empty. No one was around I had to turn on the lights myself.

I left my phone, a Dopod 577w, on the table while doing my work. While shifting some files, my phone fell on the floor and thereafter, he died!!! Sei kau jooor!! Matiiii!!! Saawwwwweeeee!! Aarggghh

My screen cracked. My phone is barely 2 years old.

My Dopod 577w

How technology evolved.

All I had in mind is a note of RM1000 flying into the sky – I need to get a new phone soon.

At 2am, I packed my bags and was about to leave. Just before I stepped out from my room, I tripped on a box and crashed on the floor as if I was hit by a 2 tonne lorry. I suffered a bruise right thumb and left big toe.

What a great way to end 2007!

This Christmas

There was a time where my Christmas eve was spent in a club waiting for the clock to hit 12am. This year was a little bit different, I celebrated Christmas eve at Melvin’s house with a bunch of friends and good food. We were served with scrumptious lip smacking turkey, ribs, pasta and not forgetting Melvin’s special baked potato bacon cheese. I heard the turkey costs more than RM100.

Turkey & Cranberry sauce

Served with their best cutleries
We ate so much until we felt like exploding. After the dinner, wine and liquor were served. Melvin whipped out his Greygoose and Blue Label for everyone. Many were red faced throughout the night.

One of our friends’ Mum joined us for dinner as well. She had a share of one of HHH’s old antics e.g. the hamster story. The hamster story, which I blogged somewhere in 2005, went like this..

One day, D, a friend of mine, was getting ready for school.
It was wee hours in the morning and everyone was still sleeping…except for his little sister’s hamsters…
He then devised and evil plot… which is.. fart at his sister’s hamsters.
He proceeded to do so and let off a loud fart…
    *pooottttt* *blargh*
    D: oh shit!!!
He accidentally shat on his sister’s hamsters!!
    See http://www.xes.cx/MT/archives/2005/08/pooooot_blargh.html

My friend’s Mum laughed so hard until she had tears in her eyes.
As for Christmas day, for the first time in many years, Timothy didn’t have his annual Christmas dinner at his house. Every year, my Christmas day is booked for this special occasion. Nevertheless, to make it up for the empty schedule, my high school friends and I met up for dinner at Restaurant 88 at Happy Garden. We had lip smacking seafood, taufu and vegetable.

After the dinner, we headed to Hana of Roppongi Hill @ Desa Sri Hartamas, a new Izakaya Japanese bar & restaurant behind Devis’ corner aka Doris’s Corner. The place is nicely decorated with excellent interior.
And we went to the new bar in…

slippers and short pants. O_o
We played dice and drinking games throughout the night. After 4 jugs, we headed home as many had to work the next day.
Sekian laporan. Terima Kasih.
