My 25th Birthday

Every year I try to avoid celebrating my birthday so that I don’t get bombed by alcohol. Fortunately, this year, some good friends remember my birthday and they gathered people.
We started off with dinner at my brother in law’s place at Cowboy Station, Kelana Jaya.

20 people consisting 2 groups of friends, my former clubbing kakis and my former University of Sheffield classmates (including their respective partners). Thank you Zing, Charmaine, HHH, ivN, Sharon Dilirius, Sam, Don, Cris, Florence, Sow, Johnson, Janet ‘Chin’ (Chai), Cynthia Chan, Michie, KF and gf, Su Ween, Jon, Mindy, Frank and Hazel for turning up.

Chuo Ming’s 25th Birthday Bash 9.7.2006

Once again, the Sheffieldians gathered for Chuo Ming’s birthday. This time round, Wen Dee and Siew Lee made a rare appearance. As rare as them guestblogging on www.xes.cx.
Last year, Chuo Ming was presented with a bottle of whisky by a stranger. A stranger bought Chuo Ming a bottle in return of a glass of liquor that Chuo Ming bought for the stranger. Unfortunately, no bottle of whisky for Chuo Ming this year.
The dinner was held at Basque Lane, Plaza Mont Kiara. They serve Mediterranean food and their food was so-so, need more salt. But their Tiramisu is excellent though. Dinner set is around RM40. Ambience – quiet and not crowded.

Wedding @ Felda Chemomoi

My Malay colleague F invited me to his wedding @ Felda Chemomoi, at the state of Pahang. A Felda estate is a small village with basic amenities. It was established by the government to resettle the rural poor.
The journey to Felda Chemomoi was filled with uncertainty. The map that F printed on his invitation card doesn’t reflect the real route. The directions that he depicted on his map were quite straight forward. However, it wasn’t that straight forward, my car had to endure 1 ½ hour of windy trunk roads and hills. It was like driving into a jungle. By the end of the trip, I found my back tyres bald.
After a 3 hours journey (was expecting it to be 1 1/2 – 2 hours!), we reached Felda Chemomoi to find that F’s wedding was already over! But yet he invited us to his house and gave us some food.
We sat on the floor together with F’s wife and 2 of her village mates. We smiled at F’s wife and continued eating. We didn’t exchange any words.

Sui Lin’s Birthday @ Velvet, 15.4.2006

This year round, Sui Lin had her birthday bash at Velvet. Celebrating your birthday at a club is either a bold move or you’re mad. I definitely wouldn’t want to celebrate my birthday at a club. I still love my liver, man.

So anyway, she invited loads of people, so many until the stranger on the next table is a friend of Sui Lin. Also, it was sort of a joint birthday party with Kwang, if I’m not mistaken.

Throughout the night, I hung out with Cris. Ben Lai, Melvin, Sow, Big Ben and Sharon Dilirius.

The club was PACKED. Every second I had people pushing me left and right. It was hot like a sauna too. Melvin had a ‘waterfall’ problem, he was sweating like a pig, but luckily he had his trusty white handkerchief with him 😀

Further, there were so many people in the club until I had people stealing my cup. I left it on our table for few minutes and when I came back for it minutes later, I find that our table and my cup have become someone else’s table and someone else’s cup.

Despite the huge turnout for Sui Lin’s birthday, no one actually tried to bombard her with alcohol. Even Sow didn’t want to bomb her! Sui Lin was roaming around the club, SOBER! I wanted to get her a drink but it was a huge hassle walking to the bar as there were too many people.

Since the club was pack like a can of sardines, I decided to chill at Terrace Bar with the Hardsequance crew. Moments later, I saw Sui Lin being drag out from the club into Terrace Bar’s unisex toilet. Speaking about unisex toilet, I find it uncomfortable. I don’t want any girls waiting for my cubicle while I do my business. Also, I would have to aim properly so that I would miss the target 😛 Further, the unisex toilet does not remind me of Ally McBeal’s office toilet. It reminds me of Mamak toilets.

So back to Sui Lin, apparently I heard that Sow bought her a tray of shots. Sow is an evil man. So much for, no more birthday bombing.
As such, it was the end of the night for Sui Lin.

Sow: I wanted Sui Lin to lie on the floor drunk and scream “I don’t remember my name anymore!!”.

Unfortunately, Sui Lin didn’t. All she had was a headache. Boohoo. Anyway,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUI LIN
Also, another birthday shoutout to Gayvin Tan. Although you’re so far away in Melbourne, you cannot run from me!!

I received this msg from Gavin this afternoon.

Gavin says:
damn the cat attacked me, now i got claw marks and im bleeding some places
Gavin says:
eh fuck wrong person (wrong window)
Gavin says:

xes
Stop raping your cat Gavin.

Anyway, thanks for the favours i.e. buying lotion for my mum. Dinner’s on me! Hope you have a great one! More drunk pictures please!

Ping’s 25th Birthday @ Decanter Too, Hartamas

It was a gathering of old high school friends. Everyone came with with one purpose; to bomb Ping.
Ping already had few beers when I arrived. The gang was playing card games. But few minutes later, a Flaming Lambo was served. After that, more cocktails came. At the time I left Decanter, Ping already had a flaming lambo , graveyard, AK47 and a BloodyMary.
We also got him a cake. It was white and creamy. I was told that there was a purpose behind buying a creamy cake.

All to those who wishes me on the www.xes.cx forum, thanks!

My friends organized 3 different events for my bday day.

1st was lunch @ Hideki Japanese Restaurant @ One Bangsar. Pictures can be seen @ Sui Lin’s website @ http://www.suilin.com/archives/00000233.htm

2nd was crabbing session with high school friends. It was a joint celebration with Kiang who celebrated his birthday on the 17th of September. Pictures will be posted later.

3rd was Cristo’s, one of the pubs around Hartamas. I had my birthday there last year where I ended up lying drunk on the street. This time round, only 50% of the bombing participants from last year came. The absentees were either sick, busy or not in town.

Starters – warming up..

However, this time round, my high school friends, Him and his girlfriend, Kiang, Ping, Tay, Jin Han and lasy year’s participants, Sui Lin, Sam, Sow and Cris came. It was also a joint birthday thingie with Kiang.

Ping loves Heiniken

Going to Cristo’s was my own suggestion actually although I had a choice to go to Hardsequance at Glow. It was a suicidal move to go to Cristo. BUT!! I had a plan!!

I had quite a number of beers and a shot of salmonella (no idea how you spell it) sambuca courtesy of Him.
Me: Who bought me this crap?? (pointing @ the shot of salmonella sambuca)
Him: Don’t know ooh…
Me: WAITER PLEASE GIVE ME ANOTHER SHOT OF THIS FOR THAT GUY OVER THERE!!

That was one of my strategies of the night. Whoever who buys me a drink will get one in return. This would instil fear on them!

Kiang after having a shot of ‘salmonella’sambuca.
Lit it up!!

Of course, this strategy has its weaknesses. Imagine if everyone buys me a shot in return, I’ll be sleeping the hospital morgue the next day.

My plan has also been long planned. One of the plans were to make agreements with other people who asked for favours or who were having their birthdays. For example, Cris and Sow whom I promised not to bomb them on their birthdays had to promise in return, they must not bomb me.

Photographer of the night – Cris

While discussing on how to bomb me..
Sow: you know what you guys should do??
Me: SOW SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! WE HAD AN AGREEMENT. YOU MUST HONOUR IT!!! (I was quite drunk by then…)
Sow: …

However, the beers almost killed me. I hardly remember what happened 5 seconds ago!

uuhhh..what happened..

Someone bought me a shot of tequila. Mixing alcohol would no doubt kill me hence I came up with another plan. It was a 50/50 chance, all I had to do is play a game with someone, loser drinks.
Tay was my victim. I managed to coax him into playing ‘chai wui’, a sort of drinking game which involves 2 parties where one would come up with certain hands movements and the other one would have to parry them.

Tay & I

We started off with beer.

First Round: He lost. He drank a sip of beer.
Second Round: I lost. I drank sip of beer.
Then it came to the tequila.
Me: SAP MM!! HOI SAI!!!
Tay: O_O!!!!!
Everyone: BWAHAHAHAHAHA
He lost! He had to drink my tequila. WOOHOO!!
Tay: WAITER!! GIVE ME ANOTHER SHOT OF TEQUILA !!
Me: O_O!!!!!!!
2nd round came.
Tay: TUI TUI!!
Me: Wahhhh…luckily… SAP!! SAP MM!!
(then proceeds to point to the tequila)
Me: YAM AHh!!! (DRINK AH!!)
Tay: ARGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Everyone: O_O!!!!
He lost!!! Wooohooo!!!

I left the Cristo’s drunk but still standing. Thank you all for coming. Thank you for not buying me a flaming Lamborghini or a Graveyard or even Around the World. I couldn’t have coaxed anyone to drink that for me!

Chuo Ming’s Birthday

Last week, the former Sheffield bunch (plus some of the respective other halves) met up at La Bodega for Chuo Ming’s bird day.

The Cake

Sheffield Tradition! oi siewkhaibei! what are u doing?
We had a great time catching up and also making fun of waitress for the day, Ms. Ja ja.
“Oi JAJABINKS. BRING ME MY BEEER!!”, shouted a rude boy. Mmm..i think it was me..
Then something interesting happened.
The table opposite us was celebrating a birthday as well. Out of goodwill, they sent a piece of cake to Chuo Ming (CM).
CM: “wow…this is nice man..”
(Proceeds to think)
“Leong, What is the strongest alcohol here???”
Me: GRAVEYARD!!!
So instead of giving them another piece of cake, CM ordered a glass of Graveyard for the birthday boy on the other table !
We couldnt see the birthday boy’s face though.
Me: Eh what if he’s a Malay?
CM: Oh shit..
We took the risk though. Few minutes later,
Birthday boy on the other table: O_O!!!
Everyone: bwWahahahahahah

Mr & Mrs. Teh

Congratulation to Uncle Maverick and Aunty Jetski!

They finally got married. Their wedding kick starts the wedding marathon that we will go through on our lives. Soon one by one, our friends will get married.

Uncle Maverick is one of Malaysia’s most veteran and well known DJ. He broke the Guinness Book of Record’s longest non stop DJ’ing 2 years ago.

Uncle Maverick

Maverick & Jessie

The wedding was held at Spring Valley restaurant in Mid Valley. Even though our invitation card says that the dinner will start a 6PM, most of the people came about 7 something. Pfft. Malaysians.
Many of us speculated that techno music or hard trance will be played during his wedding. Unfortunately, there were none. More than half of the restaurant was filled with middle aged relatives of Maverick and Jessie. However, they played a track specially mixed by Maverick for his wedding. Soon we’ll see Maverick’s Wedding – OST (Sound Track) in pasar malam.

Lynnzter, Sharon & Sui Lin

The food was great even though no shark fin was served. Although Maverick is an angler, he does not eat shark fins. Apparently his hobby is to catch fish and let them off after that.

Initially we were famished. Sow and Ben were holding their chopsticks like they were about to go to war. However, the food disappeared in a very slow rate. We thought that it will be gone within seconds.

Ben, Sow & I

Sharon, Ivan, Kelynn, Lynnzter, Sow, Ben, Kei Shi, Sui Lin and I sat on the same table (table no 23). Cris, Florence and Doreen sat on the next table due to lack of space. Everyone was well dressed for this event.

Kelynn, Ivan & Keishi

Table no 23 + next table 😀

After couple of dishes, we had a short champagne tower thingie. Then we proceeded with the traditional ‘yamseng’ screams. As a tradition, the groom has to walk to each table to drink. Together with it, the traditional yamseng scream will be performed. Although we were slightly outnumbered by other tables, we had one of the loudest screams. Maverick had couple of right hand men to support him i.e. to drink for him.

Ben: During my wedding, I’ll get Sow, Melvin and Umeng to be my right hand man. But I’m afraid that they will all die one by one before the night ends!

Maverick lasted through the night. He kissed all of us on the cheek before we left.

I remember last time during one of my friends’ wedding, many people had to carry him back to the car at the end of the night. I think he was drowning his sorrows cause he had to marry his girlfriend after she got pregnant.

Many congratulations to Uncle Maverick and Aunty Jetski aka Mr. and Mrs. Teh. Hope you guys will have babies soon. Loads of them of course!

Wei Chen’s Birthday 2005

Happy Birthday to Wei Chen & Sharon who coindentally share the same birthday 😀
We bombarded Wei Chen (pronounced Wei Chen, NOT WHEEL CHAIR. LOL!!!) @ Finnegan’s. I was surprised to see my old time favourite, Snack Bite Black on the menu. I immediately ordered it and was followed by Sow, Wei Chen and Ivan.
Apparent there were 2 types of Snake Bite Black at Finnegan’s menu, one called Real and another one Softie Snake Bite Black. The price difference is about RM10. I was lucky to have the Softie Snake Bite Black as it was exactly like the one I used to have in England. However, Sow, Ivan and WC got the real Snake Bite Black which tasted really bad as it has a strong peppermint smell. It tasted like the Around the World Cocktail which is one shitty drink.
We bought Wei Chen a flaming Lamborghini as well. It was in a tower form. Unfortunately, the waiter who seems very inexperience couldn’t get the things to work. The flame didn’t even reach the bottom of the drink!!!

Wei Chen sees his life flashes by..

Suck it Wheelchair, suck it!!
Someone: Hey it’s not working!!
Waiter: (Silence) …..
Ivan: WOI!!! REFUND!!!!!
Unfortunately, Wei Chen didn’t puke or got into really bad shape. He could still walk straight! GAHHHHH PISSES ME OFF!

Nick’s Birthday

Ladies and Gentleman,
This is Nick. One of my best buddy from A-level days. Nick is my fellow Man Utd fan, my ex sleeping partner in class, my ponteng kaki, sometimes my cybercafe kaki, sometimes my clubbing kaki and always will be my football kaki.

We celebrated Nick’s belated birthday on Friday (26/4/2005). Instead of having dinner at boring, pretentious western food restaurant, we had sea food, the china man style in Klang.

Yee Ming brought two bottles of white wine. The white wine went exceptionally well with the crabs…yummy!!!
But, looks like Nick enjoyed prawns more than crabs

Nick: shut up, i am trying to focus here
Then Nick showed us, how good he was at peeling prawns’ skins.

waaaaa…so fast!!! aaaaaaaah…my eyes!!!
Then we headed down to Zouk because Nick my Man here had 30 invitations to Cleo Bachelor of the year party.

That was us in the car on our way to Zouk.
WTF! Yee Ming, keep your eyes on the road, not the camera.Unfortunately, our night in Zouk was quite uneventful. Pretty boring if u ask me.

Inside Zouk
We were definately not very pleased.

CJ and me, not very pleased

Nick and Yee ming, stoned due to the boredom
Happy Birthday Nick…you’re the man-bitch that every man want to have as a buddy. =P
